We all know everyday is a day is a day to be thankful, but ESPECIALLY on holidays like Thanksgiving. It’s a designated time of year, for family, good food, laughter, and cheer, but unbeknownst to some the holiday season can be one of the lonliest times of the year.
2020 has been something of a disaster for most, everyone has been affected by COVID 19, in some way shape or form, whether it’s been the lost of a family member, friend, job, certain freedoms, or faith in a brighter future.
The tragedy is there. The sadness is there, the depression, and the stress is there, and it’s not just going to go away because of our regularly scheduled holiday programming.
For many, the holidays are a great time for families to travel, gather, and reunite, but there are some of us, who simply just can’t relate, and instead it becomes a large mirror forcing you to reflect on what you don’t or didn’t have.
Growing up, even before my mother passed, we didn’t celebrate holidays or have large gatherings. Everyday was the same, there was no holiday spirit or Christmas cheer, it just wasn’t in our system of beliefs; but there was church, it seems like there was always time for that…
It’s no wonder that after she died, what was “left” of the family fell apart.
I don’t blame my brother and sister who were young adults at the time of her passing, so many years living under strict rule, going to a place of worship your mom devoted her time and life to, but yet it didn’t save hers.
My mother passed a month after I turned 11. I have no idea what the last words I ever said to her, I don’t think at the time I realized that she wouldn’t be coming back. Things were very lonely after that.
There was no one there to build or lift me up, or teach me how to be a respectable lady, and warn me not to rush. I mean there again was always church, which seemed a blessing and a curse. Now there was no mom, no sister, no brother, but there was dad who had to sit all the way on the other side of the church
At a young age it taught me that in short amounts of time anything could change, and that sitting down, and being quiet was possibly the best or only thing I could do in life.
I guess that’s why I was in such a rush to grow up. I wanted love and affection from someone else.
I did not love myself and because of it, it vastly changed the direction of my life. With someone, just to be with them, no matter the outcome or cost, and it certainly did cost me lot, my livelihood, my mental, emotional health, the list goes on… it’s a price I’m still paying, a deep wound that’s still healing, a massive dark hole that I am still digging, and climbing out.
On some days it’s easier, on days like thanksgiving, birthdays, and Christmas it’s not. While everyone is coming together to take part in the holiday cheer, laugh, eat, and smile, it’s a reminder of what I failed to produce, and the cozy childhood I never got.
But I am grateful, and thankful, nonetheless.
It reminds me to cherish the moments with the little ones who are dear to my heart. If you’re feeling down in the dumps this holiday, just know you aren’t alone. Everyone is going through something. This year, has been a year like no other. Remember to be gentle with yourself.

What happens when you workout everyday for 30 days:
When you workout everyday for 3o days you turn your body into a lean, mean, fat burning, muscle machine and all your weight loss goals are achieved!
Sike, just kidding the latter part of that statement is completely untrue, unless your goal is to drop 3 to 5 pounds.
While a lot can change in 30 days, your results will vary based on your weight, diet, and of course the duration and stress level of your workout.
While exercise is a important part of weight loss, your diet plays a crucial part in the results you see.
If you’re going to consume a lot of sugar, carbs and processed food, during your 30 day workout then you might as well take a step back and rethink this whole fitness thing.
Consuming foods high in sugar, while exercising may even cause you to gain weight. So before you start your fitness journey make sure you’re also ready to make the necessary changes to your diet as well.
With all that being said here are some things you can expect when you workout everyday for 30 days.
Clearer Skin!
After the first week of working out, the first thing I noticed was brighter, clearer, skin! Before I had started my workouts I would look at myself in the mirror and feel like my skin had a dullness to it.
Exercising is a great way to help your body expel toxins lying dormant underneath your skin. The more you workout, the more your skin will appear healthy and start to take on a natural glow!
More Energy
The second thing I noticed after working out for a few weeks was that I had more energy than usual.
I had more energy to do thing around the house, take my kids to the park, walking places, and running up steps in general. I noticed that I would be less out of breath when walking my daughters to and from school.
Because I incorporated jogging into some of my workouts, both my legs and lungs began to feel stronger.
Slimmer Appearance
The goal is to have a smaller waistline. The problem is that you might not see a drastic change after working out for 30 days. While I didn’t measure my waistline for changes in my circumference (which probably would have been a good idea) I did notice that my physique had a slimmer appearance, mainly in my arms, face, and chest.
What I did during my 30 day fitness challenge:
Seeing those small results and changes can really motivate you to continue on with your weight loss journey. The key to meeting your weight loss goals is to be consistent with both your dieting and exercise. Don’t stop at 30 days keep going!
My biggest challenge was establishing a healthy diet. Eating, more specifically snacking has always been a challenge for me. I’ve always been serial snacker.
Depression mixed with stress, anxiety, and a slew of other emotions made me an emotional wreck and a binge eater. I made the huge mistake of believing I could still have my snacks, thinking I’d just burn it off during my workout, which actually prevented me from seeing much movement on the scale.
I didn’t have a set time for doing my workouts, besides for in the afternoon, after work, or in the evenings. My workouts either consisted of a 15 minute jog around the block, or my favorite 30 minute Tae Bo workout video which I’ll link here.
Did I exercise every single day of the whole month: No. It was my goal to exercise every single day for 30 days, and out of those 30 days I missed a total of 2 days.
Was every day perfect, no. Was I always motivated, definitely not, but I didn’t give up.
I believe doing the 30 day fitness challenge is a great way to inspire yourself and jump start your fitness journey, even if you don’t continue to workout, every single day, keep your body moving, and get your heart pumping at least 4 or 5 times a week.
Where are you on your fitness challenge? Are you taking the 30 day fitness challenge? What are your weight loss goals, share your progress with me down below!
We all have that thing that’s been locked away, deep in our minds from the furthest reaches of our day to day thoughts. We’ve considered doing “it” for quite sometime, but somehow, we always find an excuse to put it off; whether it be writing that long awaited book, taking that dream vacation, trying out that brand new restaurant or fitness class, or even, striking up the nerve to ask that cute guy or girl on a date…
We’ve all been there.
For a fleeting moment an idea seems great, fun, exciting even, but moments later the rational side our brain awakens, beats this great idea down, and locks it away as a possibility for, maybe another time. Which usually never happens, and is rarely thought of ever again.
Well, here are five reasons to finally do that thing.
Life is Short.
Unfortunately, we never know when our time will be up. On average most people live to be about 70 years old. Although that may seem like a long time, it really isn’t.
Think of your current age now: are you 20, 30, 40, 50?
Now ask yourself: Did it take long to get here?
If you answered no, imagine living that amount of time again, (20, 30, 40, years) but this time you have aged, and your health isn’t all that it used to be. You can’t climb Mount. Everest, or visit Machu Pichu from your deathbed. So don’t wait till later, because you may never get another chance to.
2. The Possibilities are endless.
You never know where trying new things might lead you. Chances are, you’ll meet new people, make new friends, find opportunities, learn some things, fall in love, or make some money while you’re at it. Maybe you have a great invention that world needs to know about, but…
3. You will never know if you don’t try.
You can never know what’s on the other side of the door, if you never open it. (Unless the door is made of glass then you would just look, but for this case lets say the door is metal or wood…) How can you reap the benefits of something if you never do it? You must apply yourself, no one else can do it for you.
4. It may have a positive impact on your life and others.
Yes, meeting your soulmate is great, and cash is great also, but what about your mental health, and your physical state of being.Taking care of yourself should always be your top priority, (I know, it’s easier said than done, but it’s still absolutely true) so, why not sign up for that dance class, or go biking or jogging to get fit. Who knows, your success may also inspire others.
5. Do it, If it makes you happy.
Of course, if you enjoy doing something, then do it, and when you do, give it your all. As long as you’re not hurting or killing anyone, why not? Life is about finding our place in the world and doing what makes us happy, healthy and productive. If it makes you happy, then chances are, you are doing what’s best for you. So get out there, start living life to the fullest, and enjoying all the things that you want to do before it’s too late.
So Go Ahead, Just Do The Darn Thing!
Famous Lines From the Beloved 14th Century Persian Poet ~ Hafiz
We have not come here to take prisoners, But to surrender ever more deeply To freedom and joy.
We have not come into this exquisite world To hold ourselves hostage from love.
Run my dear, From anything That may not strengthen Your precious budding wings.
Run like hell my dear, From anyone likely To put a sharp knife Into the sacred, tender vision Of your beautiful heart.
We have a duty to befriend Those aspects of obedience That stand outside of our house And shout to our reason “O please, O please, Come out and play.”
For we have not come here to take prisoners Or to confine our wondrous spirits,
But to experience ever and ever more deeply Our divine courage, freedom and Light!
Yes, their chubby cheeks are cute, and their kisses are heaven-sent, but the catastrophic messes they make, and the unpredictable tantrums they throw, can give anyone the urge to lock themselves into a room, crawl into a ball, and cry…
It’s already bad enough, you can no longer keep a single morsel of food to yourself without your child’s precious little ravenous fingers reaching up to claim whatever, fork, spoon, or snack, that was about to descend into the depths of your mouth. Let alone that their time is their time, and your time is… well of course it’s their time as well!
Parenting is hard.If you think dealing with one toddler is a strenuous task, try raising two at the exact same age. It gets tough.
It’s hard not to lose your sanity when two toddlers insist that dinner should be smeared on the walls, and floors as art, or that their diapers should be worn on their heads as hats, instead of their butts, which in just moments, inevitably creates, one really big mess.
And please, do not dare commit the heinous act, of not refilling a sippy cup within the allotted time of 60 seconds; it just may as well be,the end of the world.
Yes I know, I shouldn’t complain, because they are healthy, and happy, and as constantly growing humans, they are going through a lot.
Sure, it’s tough work being a toddler. There’s so much to see, so much learn and do; lots of teeth to grow, and different things to chew. There’s always new things to discover; even if it is that bottle of chocolate syrup, you thought, you put high enough, up… Newsflash: You didn’t.
And no one, not a single soul, desires to have their sleep blatantly interrupted, by a toddler’s,–in this case two– blood-curdling scream, at 2 in the morning, to have them only return to bed an enervating, 3 hours later…
Most parents would agree that, raising children—even a single child— is often a daunting task. Parenting has it’s ups and it’s downs, and while the joys of parenthood are abundant, we understand that our precious little angels can be some of the most unpleasant creatures, that we’ve ever met.
Why Having Good Credit is Important, And Understanding it
There are various reasons why you would want to raise your credit score, It could be that you want to take out a mortgage on your dream home or you’re praying to get approved for car financing or a personal loan. Even if you just want to raise your credit score to repair your credit just want to get a shinny new credit card, these tips should be able to get you on the right track.
In order to be approved for a credit card, loan, mortgage, financing etc, lenders will look at certain factors, like your job, income, and most importantly; your credit score.
Just about all lenders look at your FICO score to determine whether your credit is poor, fair, good, or excellent. The range of your credit score can literally make or break any deal with a potential lender.
Trust me it’s not something you want to go through, I’ve been at the car dealership anticipating getting a new car only to be denied because my credit wasn’t good enough
Having good credit is important, not only for making big purchases, but it can come in handy if you happen to need emergency funds. Your score can also determine how much interest, you will pay on a particular loan and can even determine the size of your monthly payments (the more excellent the score the lower the payment.
The diagram below is a more detailed breakdown of the typical credit range
The next most important thing about credit you should understand is the different parts or factors that make up your credit score.
Once you can understand what makes up the majority of your score, you can focus on those sectors to raise your credit score faster. Your credit score is typically broken down into 5 cateogories:
Payment history– are you making your payments, late on time, or before time.
Amounts Owed– Total debt and outstanding balances
Credit Length– How long have you held accounts in good standing, collections, closed accounts
Types of Credit– Personal and student Loans, Mortgages, credit card
New Credit– New cards and new loan approvals
As depicted in the image above the cateogories with the 2 most major impacts on your credit score are your payment history and your amounts owed as a combined total of 65% of your credit score. Luckily for you these 2 cateogories are things you can work on right away.
If you are like the average person you probably don’t have a lot of money to spend on paying back thousands of dollars worth of debt awesome enough there are some things you can do to raise your credit score without spending large sums of money, so here’s 5 tips to help you raise your credit score fast.
What is Experian? Experian is a huge multinational consumer credit reporting agency. Experian offers several services ranging from checking your credit score, to monitoring your credit for fraudulent activity, they even offer live support for you to ask questions about your credit, but my favorite perk about Experian is that they offer a service called Instant credit boost!
Instant credit boost is exactly what it sounds like, an instant boost in your credit score. By using the instant boost to raise your score, you can raise your score on average by 13 points!
Experian looks at your account statements and gives you credit for bills, and utilities that you already pay on a monthly basis, which instantly boosts your credit score, and the score really does take effect immediately! Click this link here to head on over and get your FREE credit boost!
Raise Your Credit Score Tip #2-Dispute incorrect/fraudulent or unknown accounts
Disputing and removing faulty or incorrect accounts from your credit his can have a dramatically positive effect on your credit score! That is why it pays to really know everything on your credit report because you could have unknown credit errors lying around, crippling your credit score.
When you successfully dispute an account and have it removed, your credit score could easily jump over 20 points!
Luckily for us Experian, and Credit Karma are two sites and apps that let you view your entire credit history and will help you dispute accounts you believe to be errors for FREE!
If you can set up payment arrangements for outstanding balances that you owe. Since payment history and amounts owed makes up about 65% of your entire credit score, it makes sense that adding on time monthly payments, and decreasing outstanding balances will drastically raise your credit score.
You’re payments don’t have to be huge but they should be consistent. There are even companies that will help you consilidate your credit.
What does it mean to consolidate your credit? Consolidating your credit happens when a lender, or bank agrees to help you pay off your debt by combining all your outstanding balances into one lump sum,. In turn you only have to make a single payment each month to your lender.
Juggling several monthly payments on top of rent, utilities, and other bills can be stressful. Consolidating your credit simplifies the process of rebuilding your credit by combining monthly payments into one.
What is SELF? Self Lender is an amazing credit monitoring tool that allows you to build credit and save money by making fixed monthly payments over a span of 24 months or less.
In a way Self is like a CD or Bond, where after your account has matured you can withdraw your money! The only difference is that your money doesn’t gain any interest.
Self Lender is great for people who are on the low end of the credit spectrum, looking to rebuild their credit, or those who are new to the world of credit and looking to establish credit history.
The only upfront cost you have to pay is a $9 fee to activate your account, after that you will begin paying the fixed monthly payment of your choice, $25, $48, $89, or $150. For minimum payments of $25, the span of your loan is 24 months. If you opt for one of the higher payments, the span of your loan will last for 12 months
People have raised their credit score by a whopping 100 points using Self Lender . So it is definitely 100% worth the try. Click here to visit their site and signup here
Raise Your Credit Score Fast Tip #4-Secured Credit Card
A secured credit card is similar to a credit building loan in the sense that you have to provide your own money upfront. Your deposit is what makes the card secure, so that there is no risk for the bank or lender.
After your deposit has been received and your account activated you can begin using your credit card as you would a normal credit card. Whatever you borrow you must pay back. Your credit limit is typically the same amount as your deposit
There are various banks and cards that offer various deposit amounts ranging from a minimum of $50 to a maximum of $3,000. Just like ordinary credit cards, these banks report to the major credit bureaus. If you make your payments on time this will help to raise your credit score.
Here is a list of some of best secured credits cards out there
